Bourgogne : Wineries meet you on Facebook or Zoom for wine tastings

Wine tastings and virtual estate tours

There's always something positive in everything. Lockdown measures have encouraged wine estates to adapt. Many of them now share themselves and their daily life working the Burgundy soil on social networks. It's a new way for you to meet them and discover the passion that drives them. But in Burgundy, we talk about wines, and at some point, we want to taste them. As a result, some wine estates have started offering wine tastings online. And for a good introduction to tasting, a virtual tour is sometimes possible.

Virtual tour of the Domaine Coudurier Jung micro-winery

Christine looks after this small family operation that hides its treasures in the heart of Beaune. Indeed, this owner harvesting white and red Burgundy decided to install its winery in the town centre. So when you enter the shop on Rue du Faubourg Bretonnière, you’ll struggle to imagine the secrets this cellar contains.
Out of sight, exceptional vintages are aged in this micro-winery. Because indeed, there are no giant vats before your eyes, but mini-vats which age wine the old-fashioned way, without pumps or mechanical systems, from the Hautes Côtes de Beaune or Saint-Romain. Micro-winery means limited production. So it's vintages of 600 or 1200 bottles that Christine invites you to taste. A taste of the exceptional.

Burgundy wines to enjoy at home guided by a winemaker

Not so fast - it's always good to know more before you start tasting. Christine or her husband invite you on a virtual tour of their unusual winery. They’ll also introduce you to their method of artisanal winemaking. These virtual tours take place on Live Facebook. They can be arranged on request from 10 people (they last one hour between 10.00am and 12.30pm and 1.30pm and 6.30pm).
Follow their Facebook page to learn more.

When you get to know more about their estate and how they create their wines, you’ll have just one thing to rush out and do – finally try them for yourself. And there’s something to enjoy between a white Meursault, a red Pommard or a batch from the Domaines des Hospices de Beaune. Indeed, Domaine Coudurier Jung is a buyer in the famous Wine Sale. For example, they bought a batch of Volnay 1 er Cru Cuvée Blondeau which they vinified with care and passion.

To taste these treasures, nothing could be simpler. Christine invites you to purchase a sample box of 3 or 6 (or more) different bottles. Then, you can set up an appointment for a personalised online tasting experience. For 1 hour, you can hone your palate with the help of Christine or her husband.

Château de Pommard wine tastings: experiences to enjoy

Its imposing white building stands at the entrance to a famous village whose name it proudly bears: Château de Pommard knows how to welcome you with this sense of sharing that really makes a difference. But you’re far away, locked down or not, or too busy to come and visit... So this exceptional estate will come to you.

Château de Pommard unveils its autumn collection

No catwalk parades for the Château de Pommard collections, but elegant bottles lined up in their cellars. Like the creations of the great couturiers which come alive when worn, the wines of Château de Pommard spring to life on the palate of epicureans the world over.
These collections are a great introduction to discover their vintages and find the ones you really like. Their "Autumn Essentials" seasonal collection is a selection of 6 vintages, carefully selected by their winemakers. This provides a very complementary overview of their wine offer:
  • Ladoix Premier Cru "Les Gréchons" 2015
  • Meursault 2015
  • Gevrey-Chambertin 2014
  • Volnay Premier Cru 2014
  • Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru 2015
  • Nuits-Saint-Georges 2015

Once you receive your collection, you can taste it on your own and form your own view of these Burgundy wines, harvested in the Côte de Beaune and vinified in the cellars of Château de Pommard. But how about tasting with a wine adviser with qualifications from the Wine and Spirit Education Trust (WSET)?

Online tasting experiences with Château de Pommard

Among the first to offer wine experiences online in March 2020, this autumn, Château de Pommard is unveiling a Food and Wine tasting offer that’s a true taste adventure. Its wine advisers, graduates of the Wine and Spirit Education Trust (WSET), reveal the specific features of the Burgundy region through a tasting of the Autumn Essentials Collection.

Experiences can be booked online on their website. Ideally, schedule your appointment in advance so you can order your box of Autumn Essentials. It takes about 5 days to deliver, depending on where you are. Then, you can choose your adviser and time slot, and even the language for the presentation (English or French), and you’re off on a journey through the “Climats” (wine-growing plots) of Burgundy’s vineyards and the wines of Château de Pommard.

An original Christmas gift idea for lovers of great wines
