With this First Murder, Scarlatti invented the 'biblical thriller'. As Cain is about to kill his brother Abel, Adam and Eve watch helplessly as the drama unfolds, while God and Lucifer clash within Cain's very soul. In a typically Baroque spatial effect, Abel's voice can even be heard from beyond!
