Nature, wine and well-being around Beaune

Are you looking to recharge your batteries and get some fresh air while discovering the riches of Burgundy? Come and spend 2 days in nature in Burgundy.

Day 1

Picnic, free bike ride through the vineyards

The morning gets off to a slow start; Beaune. You choose to discover the town starting with the market, gourmand on Wednesday morning, “gigantic” on Saturday 😊. An ideal opportunity to fill your basket with local specialities: farmhouse bread, cheeses, home-made terrines, fresh fruit… For lunch, take a seat at the Parc de la Bouzaize,a bucolic setting perfect for an impromptu picnic by the water. It’s just 10-15 minutes’ walk from the town centre. The ducks, the laughter of the children, the rustle of the trees: a real natural parenthèse out of time and yet à côtacute; of Beaune city centre. You leave the duck corner right away to settle à the shade of a hundred-year-old tree for a mérit;e siesta.

In the early afternoon, you hire a car from Active Tour. It’s right at the entrance to the Bouzaize park. The route is accessible, and the wine-growing countryside unfolds peacefully. It’s a bit of a climb, but you’ve had your fill of ham with parsley, so you’ll need to limit yourself. You then head to the Clos de la Belle Châtelaine, a confidential address hidden between the black pines of the Montagne. And yes, coming to Beaune is a bit like breathing the mountain air (in all modesty, our mountain culminates at 385m). But back to the Clos de la Belle Châtelaine. Jean-Louis Martin welcomes you there like an old friend. He is a real enthusiast for terroir, in the sense of the nourishing soil which, if we take care of it, offers us exceptional products. His Clos is a love affair between him and the land. He has transformed this beautiful natural space without robbing it of its identity. To begin with, he wanted to plant a truffle garden with hornbeam, beech, oak and hazel trees. To keep them company, he planted around thirty fruit trees in his orchard: apples, pears, pears, apricots, cherries, plums, almonds, kiwis, figs, not forgetting sour cherries, perfect for making brandy. But what really makes his eyes shine are the red fruits: raspberries, redcurrants, and above all the blackcurrant, the emblem of Burgundy. Then came the permaculture vegetable garden with its légendar salads, leeks, tomatoes…. Jean-Louis doesn’t just grow things: he also transforms them. He explains the importance of respecting the earth, which thrives without us. At the end of the visit, a dégustation takes place in a convivial atmosphere, à the image of the house. Jean-Louis generously shares his story, his secrets about blackcurrants, the orchard, the vines and his love for the region.A magical place, cut off from the world.

In the evening, you head to Nono et dînez  Au Bon Accueil, a village table where&ù l’on cuisine avec le cœur. It’s our mountain refuge 😉. Then, charmed by Jean-Louis’s stories, you join La Terre d’Or, where Vincent, his son is waiting for you to spend the night. The place is unique and full of the spirit of Jean-Louis and his wife Christine.</With its breathtaking view over Beaune, its “bien-être” grotto (equipped with a spa) and its warm atmosphere, it’s much more than just a place to stay: it’s an experience.

Day 2

Yoga, Burgundy villages and wine tasting

The next morning, you start the day with an outdoor yoga session with  YogaMaga. Installed in the heart of the vineyards or in a secret garden depending on the weather, you breathe deeply, tense your body and feel ready for a new day. Lunch is served at La Table du Square, where you find the local flavours in a modern and delicate cuisine, alwaysfocused on seasonal produce and wild harvest. Their slogan “Good food, Good wines, Good vibes”delivers on all its promises. In the afternoon, you’re off to the covered village of Auxey-Duresses, nestled in the wine-growing hills. Peaceful lanes, ancient cellars, splendid views over the vines… A discreet and authentic charm. It’s déjà in the evening, time flies when you’re having fun. You êtes expected at Hungry Cyclist, a convivial house of h’hôtes run by Tom, where meals are shared around large tablées. You’ll spend the night in the heart of the vineyards, in a setting that’s as simple as it is warm.

This is the perfect place to spend an evening.

Day 3

A smooth return

Your stopover in Beaune is drawing to a close, but you still have time to savour. You hop on your bike and head for the Voie des vignes. The cycle route takes you through charming, picturesque villages nestled in the heart of the Burgundy vineyards. You decide to put your bike down à Chassagne-Montrachet, between the îlots of tightened houses, for a final dégustation at the domaine Picard. On the first day, you meet Francine, who grows her own  biodynamic wines. You will taste a story that has been told since 1951, through 136 hectares of vines. Between  Chassagne-Montrachet, Aloxe-Corton, Saint-Aubin, Puligny and Mercurey, the house takes you on a tour of Burgundy in one tasting. As well as being labellisé Vignobles & Découvertes, the estate’s little extra awaits you patiently in the cellars: during a visit, you will discover the coloured cellars, unique (or almost unique) in the region.

One day in Burgundy off the beaten track, between gastronomy, nature and moments for yourself. You’ll leave feeling soothed, inspired and with memories flooding your palate.
