Romanée-Conti: the greatest of all Burgundy wines

Romanée-Conti is "Rare", "exceptional", "unique" ... Superlatives abound to describe this jewel of the Côte de Nuits. Wine experts and lovers agree – it’s the greatest of all Burgundy wines. Its reputation is international and potential buyers scramble for it, an unstoppable recipe that makes it the most expensive wine in the world.

Romanée-Conti. To live happy...live hidden?

The Romanée Conti vineyard definitely fits that maxim. While travelling the Route des Grands Crus, we must take the trouble to make our way to the village of Vosne-Romanée to finally discover this pearl of the vineyards, planted entirely with Pinot Noir.

Romanée-Conti: " Cloux " for the Prince

The origins of the vineyard of Romanée-Conti are connected to the priory of St Vivant, who owned it in the Middle Ages, at a time when it was known as the "Cros des Cloux".
The plot took the name "Romanée" around 1651, without anyone really knowing why...
Prince Louis-François de Bourbon-Conti bought it in 1760, but it was not until 1794 that the name "Romanée-Conty " saw the light of day.

Domaine de la Romanée-Conti

The prestigious cru is now managed by Domaine de la Romanée Conti, the unique and lucky owner of this "little grand cru" covering 1.8140 hectares. Production averages 6000 bottles per year. These bottles contain a wine for lengthy storage, to be jealously guarded for between twenty and forty years.

Its colour is dark ruby, which turns to carmine with age. The bouquet first recalls red and black fruits, as well as violets, spices and the undergrowth as it ages. On the palate, a fine balance between power and sensuality.
A huge wine from one of the smallest Burgundy vineyard plots...

Unique Romanée-Conti

Bottles of Romanée Conti are still sold individually, along with a mix of 12 other great wines from among the prestigious offerings of the Domaine de la Romanée-Conti: Echezeaux, Grands Echezeaux, Romanée-Saint-Vivant, Richebourg and La Tâche.
