Located in the heart of the historic town centre, the Hôtel-Dieu is easily accessible on foot from any point in the town centre. > By motorway A6 / E60 Lille/Paris/Lyon ↔ Take exit 24.0 (Savigny-lès-Beaune / Beaune-Saint-Nicolas) or exit 24.1 (Beaune-Centre / Beaune-Hospices) > By train: Beaune SNCF station with the TER Bourgogne Franche-Comté > For parking : Parking des Tanneries (free, 83 spaces including 2 for people with reduced mobility) Parking des Chanceliers (nearest, 125 spaces including 2 for people with reduced mobility). Is Hôtel-Dieu accessible to PRMs and pushchairs?

Yes, the site is accessible to people with reduced mobility (PRM) and families with pushchairs . Access ramps have been installed to compensate for the historic steps. Please note, however, that the courtyard of honour is covered with old cobblestones, which can make getting around a little more difficult: we recommend the use of a compact pushchair or baby carrier for greater comfort. Are pets (dogs) allowed?

For reasons of conservation and hygiene due to the age of the site, pets are not allowed inside the monument. Only guide and assistance dogs are allowed to accompany their owners during the visit.

Owned by the Hospices Civils de Beaune, the former hospital, or Hôtel-Dieu, now welcomes visitors from all over the world. If you’re coming to Beaune for a day or a weekend, don’t leave without a visit. Its main building is located in Beaune town centre. You’ll be impressed by its imposing architecture and the slate roof on the outside of the building. And you’ll marvel at the glazed tile decoration as you enter the main courtyard. The tour reveals the history of this hospital foundation and its founders. You’ll also learn about the role of the famous Hospices de Beaune wine estate.

It all started with a beautiful love story between Nicolas Rolin and Guigone de Salins. In 1443, this Chancellor of Burgundy and his wife founded the Hôtel-Dieu, modelled on the Flemish hospitals. Their aim was to provide care for the poor and disadvantaged.

La Grande Vadrouille

In the footsteps of three cinema legends

Louis de Funès, Bourvil and Gérard Oury fell in love with Burgundy. Typical French villages, an authentic landscape, recognisable monuments and, of course, good food and good wine – that’s all it took to seduce Gérard Oury and his actors. The filming of La Grande Vadrouille took place in Beaune and Meursault. The images and lines from this cult film remain engraved in our childhood memories. What a pleasure to follow in the footsteps of the actors when you visit the Hôtel-Dieu – Hospices de Beaune or the pretty town of Meursault.
