Wine Sales Half-Marathon

In November, take part in the Vente des Vins de Beaune half-marathon, the most prestigious race in Burgundy.

The Wines of Hospices de Beaune Half Marathon takes in the hilly roads typical of the vineyards of the Côte de Beaune. The runners pass through some of Burgundy’s most prestigious places and villages (Pommard, Meursault, Volnay), which combine with the conviviality and folk atmosphere of this event. Musical entertainment and tastings enhance the race.

History of the Beaune Wine Sale Half Marathon

In 1986 the half-marathon of the Wines sales of Beaune was created under the impetus of the Athletics Section of the Societé d’Emulation Beaunoise (S.E.B.). 450 runners took part in this first edition. In 1989, the route ran between Savigny-lès-Beaune, Pernand-Vergelesses and Aloxe-Corton. In 2001, this was modified and now takes in the roads to Pommard, Volnay, Meursault and Monthélie. Since the creation of this event, the number of participants has continued to rise, reaching an all-time high of 2,475 runners in 2014! Every year, more than 5,000 participants, mainly from the Bourgogne, Franche-Comté, Île de France and Rhône Alpes regions, set off on the Semi (21.100 km) and Foulées (10.400 km) courses. Take up the challenge!

Many well-known athletes and personalities made the trip to run through the vineyards of the Beaune Côte.

The Beaunois, as well as the visitors, had the pleasure of seeing Marie-José Pérec again, who is now a regular at our half-marathon. In 2016, she was delighted by the warm welcome she received from the people of Beaune and by the special atmosphere during the weekend of the Wine Sale. The 2019 vintage of this legendary race was particularly lively thanks to the presence of Philippe Candeloro, who delighted with his verve and dynamism. Fabrice Guy, former Nordic Combiné Champion, Laurent Brochard, cyclist, Eric Blanc, rugby player and creator of the Eden Park preêt-à-porter brand, Jean-François Lamour, former minister and Olympic sabre champion, Sébastien Fouras, world champion freestyle skier, Fabien Canu, judoka étaient les sportifs confirmés de cette édition.
