Where to swim?

Envy to fraîcheur during the summer in Burgundy? Beaune and the surrounding area offer several pleasant places to swim, relax or enjoy water sports. Whether you’re with the family,with friends or a thrill-seeker, here are the best places to swim around Beaune. Admittedly, the region is known for its vintage vines and numerous appellations, but to cool off, there’s nothing better than water! Here’s our selection of places to take a dip! And believe me, there’s plenty to choose from! Natural bathing, swimming pools, lakes… there’s something for every taste.

01. Beaune Côté Plage (Beach Side)

Need to reconnect with nature? A place to refresh yourself just a few minutes from downtown Beaune, without smelling like chlorine? Head to Beaune Côté Plage, a ecological bathing area. Thanks to the natural filtration of the plants, you can enjoy a 0% chemical swimming pool.   Enjoy a real moment of relaxation on more than 14,000 m&² of grassy beaches, withfour natural swimming pools suitable for all : a children’s area, a water games pool, a swimming pool, and another dedicated to diving. On site, have fun with toboggans, one and three-metre diving boards, or small boats à wheels. The site also offers a play area, a climbing wall, a liane, as well as a catering service to extend the day in complete safety.

  • How do I get there?

    Beaune Côté Plage (Beach Side) is easily accessible. Just 5km from the town centre, there are several options available to you:

    • You can bring the whole family or friends along for a day of beach and sport: it’s just a 10-minute drive.
    • To enjoy the surrounding area and the view of the Beaune hills, hop on your bike and take a 15-minute ride to Beaune Côté Plage (Beach Side).
    • By public transport? It’s possible from 8 July to 31 August, Monday to Friday from 11am to 7.30pm with the Côte&Bus service – consult the timetables
    • For those who like to walk, put on some good shoes!

02. The lake at Montagny-lès-Beaune

Hungry for strong sensations? Head for Lac de Montagny-lès-Beaune, ain search of adrenalin area dedicated to water sports. You’ll find activities such as wakeboarding, water-skiing, or paddle. This site attracts sports enthusiasts and young people en quête adrénaline while remaining à two steps from Beaune.

    Located opposite the Beaune Côté Plage natural swimming area, the lake and its aquatic activities are easy to reach from Beaune on foot, by bike, by bus or by car. With only 5km from the town centre, there are several options to choose from:

03. Lake Nolay

Around twenty kilometres from Beaune, and just 500 metres from the town centre of Nolay, a typical town in the Hautes Côtes, the Lac de Nolay offers a peaceful setting surrounded by greenery. Less frenetic than other places, it is ideal for those seeking peace and nature. Swimming is permitted, although it is not supervised all year round. It’s also a good spot for picnicking and walking. Theswimming area is supervised from Tuesday 8 July to Sunday 17 August 2025.

    You will be able to enjoy a gravel beach, shaded verdure corners, two pontoons and a small diving board to spend the day in peace and quiet. The good plan: a snack is on site to cater for you!

      The lake is very close to the centre of Nolay and can be reached by car in 5 minutes or on foot in 10 minutes! Adresse :  Route de Couches, Nolay 21340

    • When is swimming supervised?

      Swimming is supervised from Tuesday 8 July to Sunday 17 August t 2025.

      • on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 10am to 12pm and 3pm to 6pm.
      • On Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 2.30 p.m. to 7 p.m..

      The supervision of swimming is not provided on Mondays. This supervision is provided by personnel holding the BNSSA (Brevet National de Sécurit&e; et de Sauvetage Aquatique).

    04. Santenay swimming pool

    Located close to the tennis court, the heated outdoor swimming pool at Santenay is the perfect place to enjoy the outdoors. It offers several pools for all âges, a slide for the kids and a cove détente to relax between dips.

    Enclosed by verdure, it combines sport and détente. There are also swimming lessons available, whether you’re a beginner or looking to perfect your skills.

      With Santenay station just a stone’s throw away (2 km), it’s best to get there by bike or on foot, taking just 6 minutes by bike and 23 minutes on foot. You can also take the 705 bus from the station and walk to the swimming pool.

    05. Chagny swimming pool

    Located 25 minutes from Beaune, the piscine municipale de Chagny is an excellent alternative for those looking for a peaceful and pleasant place to cool off on hot summer days. This open-air pool offers a spacious outdoor pool, ideal for swimming or simply relaxing in the water. The little ones have access to a separate paddling pool. The big plus at the piscine de Chagny: a green area where you can browse, picnicate or tend peacefully. It’s the perfect place to spend an afternoon with the family, away from the hustle and bustle of the city, in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere.
