Three days, three highlights! This 7th edition of the competition, which celebrates the "meurette" egg recipe, promises an intense programme with a flagship competition each day: the Apprentice Competition on Friday 10 October, the Amateur Competition on Saturday 11 October, before the World Meurette Egg Championship and the Gastronomic Dinner on Sunday 12 October 2025.

THE WORLD MEURETTE EGG CHAMPIONSHIP AT CHÂTEAU DU CLOS DE VOUGEOT

The Château du Clos de Vougeot, a mecca for French gastronomy, is renowned the world over for its expertise and is the undisputed temple of the œuf en meurette. Since 1953, this dish, one of the best symbols of Burgundy gastronomy, has been served at every meal organised at the château. The menu varies for each reception, but only the œuf en meurette appears on the menu. Resident chef Alexandra Bouvret achieves the technical feat of serving 1,200 perfectly poached oeufs en meurette to 600 guests in just five minutes. On the strength of this speciality... and feat, the château has decided to create a culinary event in 2019: the Championnat du Monde de l'Œuf en Meurette®, allowing national and international chefs to compete for the annual title of World Champion.

VIRGINIE BASSELOT, PRESIDENT OF THE JURY

This year, for its 7th edition, the Championnat du Monde de l'Œuf en Meurette welcomes a leading figure in French gastronomy: Virginie Basselot.
Head chef at the Negresco hotel in Nice, Meilleur Ouvrier de France 2015 and winner of a Michelin star for her restaurant Le Chantecler, Virginie Basselot is the president of the jury for this year's event.

Committed, rigorous and passionate, Virginie Basselot is one of the very few women chefs in France to be awarded a Michelin star. For this exceptional professional, competitions are a fantastic way of challenging herself and a driving force for excellence. Her presence at the head of the jury honours this professional competition, which is emblematic of Burgundy gastronomy, and promises an edition under the banner of passion and excellence.

SUNDAY 12 OCTOBER: GASTRONOMIC DINNER

> Sunday 12 October 2025 from 7.30 pm: Gastrœnomique prize-giving evening (reservation required) in the château's Grand Cellier Cistercien.
