The apocryphal gospels and Jacques de Voragine's Golden Legend influenced Marian imagery from the medieval period onwards, providing a rich and detailed vision of episodes in the Virgin's life.
In this talk, we will present the literary sources of Marian iconography, from the canonical texts to the apocryphal gospels and the famous Golden Legend.
