Brought together by their passion for a cappella vocal polyphony, the singers of the A Bocca Chiusa quartet have been touring France since 2015. In June 2023, the quartet recorded its first album, entitled De bouche à oreille, the fruit of several years of collaboration and sound research.

A Bocca Chiusa takes a tour of the French-speaking world, sometimes laughing, sometimes gloomy, with its reflections of struggles, offering a fresh look at this repertoire by bringing the stories into dialogue, exploring the echoes, links, responses and consolations from one song to the next. The characters seem to draw on their collective musical memory to invent their own narrative - a gesture that is both fragile and sensitive, like a song on the lips.
In a form somewhere between performance and concert, our four strangers experience the power of song: the power to reopen access to the spoken word, to the strength of the collective, and to reclaim together the right to dream.

The four singers create eclectic, lively concert programmes, with the constant aim of forging a genuine bond with their audience. What sets them apart is the very form of their projects: with three staged performances, A Bocca Chiusa challenges the codes of traditional a cappella polyphony. A Bocca Chiusa has been invited to perform at a number of renowned festivals, including Les Rencontres Musicales de Vézelay (89), Voce Humana (22) and En Voix! (60). In 2022, the quartet benefited from the Jeunes Ensembles scheme run by the Cité de la Voix, which supports the emergence of new talent.
