The hospital was founded in 1700 by Charles de la Boutière, Baron of Chagny.

The apothecary, created in 1715, features fine woodwork and a collection of Nevers earthenware and Paris porcelain pots from the early 19th century, as well as mortars, stumbling blocks, scales and herbariums.
