The Sanctuary of the Infant Jesus is a place of prayer and devotion dedicated to the Infant Jesus, inspired by the spirituality of Sister Marguerite of the Blessed Sacrament (1619-1648). Today, a community of Carmelite Sisters of the Infant Jesus bring the shrine to life, welcoming pilgrims and the faithful who come to seek peace and comfort in prayer.
Sister Marguerite of the Blessed Sacrament, a mystical Carmelite nun, lived at the Carmelite convent in Beaune (founded in 1619), where she spread devotion to the childhood of Christ, fostering a spiritual life based on trust. A statuette of the Infant Jesus was given to her by a spiritual companion in 1643.
Driven out of their convent during the French Revolution, the Carmelite nuns returned to Beaune and bought a plot of land in 1836 to build the present monastery.
The chapel is open to visitors from 7am to 7pm. It is possible to visit the monastery and meet a sister by appointment.
