Beaune goes green

Here, life is savoured… but not just any old way. With our vineyards and Climats UNESCO World Heritage Site, narrow streets steeped in history, and the art of good food and wine, Beaune and the Beaune region tick all the boxes for an eco-responsible getaway.

And because travelling goes hand in hand with preserving the environment, there are plenty of local initiatives to make your stay here kinder to the planet: soft mobility, committed accommodation, local producers… There are so many ways to enjoy the region without going overboard.

You don’t have to be perfect, every little bit helps. We move forward together, at our own pace. And that’s what makes all the difference.

The Tourist Office, on the road to more responsible tourism

At the Beaune & Pays Beaunois Tourist Office, we do things from the heart (a Burgundian heart, of course): making our visitors feel welcome, while taking care of our corner of Burgundy.

We don’t have all the answers, but we’re making progress, step by step, to ensure that quality goes hand in hand with respect for the environment. Our Tourist Office, which has long held the Qualité Tourisme quality label, is aiming for the Destination d’Excellence label in 2025, a much more demanding approach to sustainable tourism.

Our aim? To find the right balance between quality service and sustainable development, a challenge that our team is taking up with enthusiasm!

There’s no need to go overboard: here, travelling well just comes naturally.

Discovering the biodiversity of the Beaune region

Natura 2000 :

preserving biodiversity at the heart of the Beaune region

The Beaune region is home to precious biodiversity, preserved thanks to the Natura 2000 network. This European programme protects sensitive natural environments and rare species, while encouraging respectful agricultural, forestry and tourism practices.

Sites such as the dry grasslands and wetlands in the region illustrate this richness. Natura 2000 is based on concerted management, where nature conservation goes hand in hand with local human activities.

Fauna and Flora

The Beaune region as a showcase for biodiversity

Did you know that behind the world-famous Beaune and Pays Beaunois vineyards lies a natural heritage of unsuspected wealth?

With its forests, limestone grasslands and wetlands, as well as numerous plant and animal species, the Beaune region is home to exceptional flora and fauna, some of which are rare or protected.

Sustainable viticulture

Taking environmental issues into account is now a must in the world of winegrowing. All the more so in wine-growing regions such as ours, which are classified as UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

More and more estates are choosing to produce differently, respecting the land and those who work it. Organic farming, High Environmental Value (HVE) certification , Terra Vitis, Vignerons Engagés, Demeter, Biodyvin… There is no shortage of labels to support this sustainable shift.

Associations like the BIVB are working for better, more sustainable, better-known wines.

Here, we cultivate wine and green.
