British sculptor Paul Day from Burgundy will be taking part in a lively talk, providing an opportunity for real exchange with the public. Come and ask your questions to find out all about scultpure, from the perspective of an atypical artist who goes against the grain of artistic trends. Throughout the day, the artist will be on hand at the museum to chat with visitors.

Come and discover the history of Beaune’s first cemeteries, the graves of those who died for France, the graves of great personalities and those of anonymous people. As you wander through the cemetery’s alleys, the history of Beaune will be revealed to you. In the event of bad weather, the visit will be replaced by an exploration of the Municipal Archives.
The Municipal Archives invite you to take a tour of the reserves on the theme of Beaune’s burial history, tracing the evolution of tombs from the first Gallo-Roman burials to today’s cemetery. To mark the centenary of the inauguration of the Beaune War Memorial, you will also have the opportunity to discover, through the archives, the history of the region’s memorial buildings. A former 13th-century chapel, for several centuries it was the place of worship attached to the Hôpital du Saint-Esprit, founded before the Hôtel Dieu. Like the famous Salle des Pôvres, the chapel has an inverted ship’s hull structure. It survived the demise of the hospital and was used for a time to house the infantry, before being converted into a winery in the 20th century. Its renovation by the Beaune & Pays Beaunois Tourist Office, to make it its administrative headquarters, gives it a new lease of life as it enters the 21st century. This small town in Burgundy is full of surprises. Known for its wines, it is also a spa town. And it boasts an outstanding heritage, such as the Moulin Sorine and the Church of Saint-Jean de Narosse, both of which are well worth a visit during the JEP.
The Journées du Patrimoine (Heritage Days) are a great opportunity to visit some not-to-be-missed sites. The Château de Savigny-lès-Beaune is playing the game and offers you a special reduced rate for the JEP. And it’s not just a château: 3 incredible museums showcase classic vehicles: aeroplanes, fire engines, motorbikes, Abarths…. A must-see!
