Celebrating wine at village festivals

Major wine events

All year round, the wine villages celebrate one festival after another. Winegrowers and locals do their utmost to share with everyone the wonderful experience of a stay in Burgundy. It’s an opportunity to discover new vintages, learn more about the world of wine, chat with native Burgundians, or simply enjoy the Burgundy countryside.

1 The Hospices de Beaune Wine Sale

The Wine Sale is at the heart of a truly traditional “Rabelaisian” festival in Burgundy. It’s part of what’s known as “Les Trois Glorieuses”, a unique gathering of wine lovers in Burgundy. Each year, the world’s largest charity auction is presided over by a well-known personality. An exceptional piece is donated to a cause of general interest.

2. Le Printemps de Monthelie

Monthelie winegrowers offer tastings of their wines over Easter weekend for the purchase of a glass. Catering available in the village hall. Free horse-drawn carriage ride. Bottles to be won at the tombola.

3. Welcome to Savigny

For a weekend, Savigny-lès-Beaune producers offer you the chance to discover or rediscover the appellation’s different climats, villages and premier crus. Jeep tour of the vineyards. Activities for youngsters (merry-go-round, pony rides). Musical street entertainment. A true discovery in a spirit of convivial celebration.

4. Beaune Saveurs des Vignes

Tastings and gourmet discoveries in the heart of the Beaune vineyards. Family-run winegrowing estates and trading houses invite you to discover Beaune’s terroirs on foot, in the heart of their vineyards! An eight-kilometer route will lead you to discover Beaune’s winegrowing landscapes and appellations, while you dine in. The program includes 5 gourmet stops! The tastings – regional appellations, Beaune, Beaune premiers crus, crémant – will be commented on and the wines served by the winemakers.

5. Festives de Meloisey

They celebrate vineyards, wine, crafts, music and the arts in a convivial atmosphere. It’s 2 days of discovery and festivities. Wine bars will be serving up the finest appellations from local winemakers, accompanied by local produce. You’ll also find craftspeople exhibiting in the village streets, and children can enjoy face painting and pottery…

6. From Cep to Glass

The Agence de Nolay in partnership with the Syndicat de Défense des Hautes Côtes is organizing a fun-filled itinerary around vines and wine on August 06 and 07. In the heart of the historic center, 40 artisans will be on hand to share their passion. Music takes center stage, bringing together jazz and pop music, puppet shows, juggling and circus. Street performances with fire-eaters and stilt-walkers, theatrical sketches and skits, and a host of emotions and laughter.

The Cep en Verre Rally

A friendly family-friendly stroll around the vineyards and wine, meeting winegrowers in their vineyards to share anecdotes, stories and know-how. You’ll taste their wines and discover some of their secrets. At lunchtime, you’ll be welcomed by a Hautes-Côtes winemaker for a cold buffet (menu to be announced). Then it’s back on to the trail, with wild, unspoilt nature ever-present along the way. The Rally ends with a prize-giving ceremony for the participants who best answered the riddles in the questionnaire distributed at the start of the walk.

7. Foulées des vendanges

In the village streets, through the Château park and the vineyards, over 900 runners came to measure themselves against the best regional and national competitors over a 10 Km course often won in a time of just over thirty minutes. Prior to this, the youngest runners competed in different categories on 1 or 2 km courses through the village streets. As every year since the event’s inception, the day is sponsored by some of the biggest names in sport, who are on hand to cheer on the runners and meet the public.

09. Egg Meurette World Championship

Yes, it’s not directly a celebration of wine, but the recipe itself is an ode to the nectar of Burgundy. The Château du Clos de Vougeot now invites you to join them in the autumn for this grand championship. Amateur and professional chefs come from far and wide to compete, and the jury is merciless in electing the world’s best oeufs en meurette.

See you on October 14&15, 2023
