Description
Rameau's testament
At nearly 80, Jean-Philippe Rameau put all his energy into a final lyric tragedy, intended for the celebrations marking the end of the Seven Years' War, and died without having been able to hear his musical testament. What a masterpiece he left behind! Constant invention, orchestral daring, powerful drama: with Les Boréades, Rameau seemed to draw his inspiration from a completely new source.
Reinoud van Mechelen has already triumphed as Prince Abaris. At the head of his ensemble A nocte temporis and an enthusiastic cast, he takes on this magnificent role for this first performance in Beaune.
