Through an analysis of a number of paintings from the Collegiate Church of Notre-Dame de Beaune, she will turn the spotlight on the 17th century in French painting, a century that was designated as Grand and which was marked by royal absolutism in all areas.

The fruit of the counter-reformation initiated by the papacy in reaction to the theories of Luther and Calvin, it was essentially religious in nature, in the service of the Roman Catholic Church. It was also the time when genre hierarchies were created in painting, giving rise to a model that would last until the 19th century, before painters such as Gustave Courbet overturned its fundamentals.
