A major celebration of Burgundy wines, the weekend of the Hospices de Beaune Wine Auction is the perfect time to come and taste Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Aligoté or Crémant de Bourgogne.

Many wine cellars in Beaune offer exceptional tastings during this festive occasion. From grands crus and exceptional vintages to rare, unusual or remarkable wines, these treasures are brought out of the shadows.

Winegrowers also open their estates to welcome you in a truly special atmosphere. This is a truly exceptional weekend in Burgundy.

The ‘Pièce de Charité’ is a remarkable bottle of wine. It is put up for sale at the Wine Auction, with the proceeds going to one or more charities. Generally, this bottle is a Grand Cru from that year, produced from the vineyards of the Hospices de Beaune estate.

A social and humanitarian commitment that remains as strong as ever

Every year, this major festive event is held to raise funds for charities, which are usually selected following applications received during September.

Wine tastings

The Hospices de Beaune Wine Auction is open to trade professionals only. However, the Wine Auction Weekend offers the chance to take part in exceptional tastings at the Domaine des Hospices de Beaune, at wine merchants and at estates in and around Beaune.

Bookings for tastings are currently being published for the 2026 event.

Gala Dinners

Wine professionals and enthusiasts gather at grand gala dinners held at the estates to celebrate this major festival of Burgundy’s wine industry: the Hospices de Beaune Wine Auction.

The major wine houses organise dinners and gala evenings that reflect the cheerful and convivial atmosphere of Beaune, the capital of Burgundy wines. Some of these events are reserved for professionals only, whilst others are open to the general public, subject to booking.

These events are usually published on our website from the summer through to September.

During the Wine Sale Weekend

A big family celebration

Everyone can have a go at having some fun this November weekend, thanks to the Festivinales. Adults can visit the wine cellars or treat themselves to snails or bœuf bourguignon at the stalls in the gourmet market, whilst the little ones dance around as folk groups parade past. And the whole family can have fun at the funfair, set up in Place Madeleine.

Step inside the museums during the Wine Sale

The Maison des Climats at Porte Marie de Bourgogne (free entry), the Museum of Fine Arts, the Wine Museum and the Cité des Climats et des Vins look forward to welcoming you during this festive weekend.

Come and discover or rediscover the full cultural, historical and wine-growing heritage of our region through exhibitions, permanent collections and immersive experiences.

Don’t miss this unique opportunity to delve into the heart of our heritage!

You can also enjoy the Festivinales de la Vente des Vins, where from Friday afternoon through to Sunday evening you can explore a village of arts and crafts and culinary trades, all accompanied by music!

Highlights from the 164th Wine Auction of 2024

1 Beaune, 1er Cru, Les Bressandes

Produced from a 2.95-hectare, certified organic vineyard, the 2024 vintage revealed a bouquet of fresh red fruits, with a slightly spicy and smoky note as it aged. It was aged in an oak cask from Tonnellerie Billon.

The fight against the disease and support for children take centre stage

In 2024, the proceeds from the 2024 Auction went to Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) and the Global Gift Foundation to support their respective projects combating tropical diseases and helping children in need.

Two formidable pairings

At the 164th edition, Jean Reno and Eva Longoria represented the Global Gift Foundation, whilst Zabou Breitman and Dominic West lent their voices to Médecins sans Frontières (MSF).

Some figures on the 2023 Auction

The 2022 record seemed unbeatable, and indeed it proved to be so at this 163rd Hospices de Beaune wine auction. Nevertheless, 2023 ranks as the second-best auction of all time. Ludivine Griveau had heralded an exceptional vintage. The buyers placed their trust in her.

Charity coin auction€460,000

This year has been a generous one, with a total of €460,000 raised! This sum was raised through the auction of Alaor Pereira Lino’s work, which fetched €360,000, and an additional donation of €100,000 from Francine Picard.

Red wine sales€7,709,000

The 321 bottles of red wine were sold for over 7 million euros.

The average price per bottle was €24,016, representing a fall of 5.37 per cent compared with 2023.

White wine sales€6,200,000

The 118.5 cases of white wine were sold for over €6 million. The average price per case reached €31,540, an increase of 8 per cent compared with 2023.

Total sale amount€13,944,200

The Hospices Civils de Beaune can count on the 14 million euros to plan their future investments in Beaune Hospital.
