Day 1 - Friday: A day out in and around Beaune

It’s time to wake up and have a hearty breakfast, because this morning we’re off for a walk in the Etangs d’Or. There’s nothing like strolling along the water in the wake of wildlife to recharge your batteries. You can take your time toobserve the ballet of dragonflies and their translucent, incessantly beating wings, local and visiting birds , insects, amphibians, fish and also hares and deer. Laze in the sun on a wooden pontoon before heading back to Beaune.

Discovering the mysteries of the Climats de Bourgogne

We meet at the Cité des Climats et Vins de Bourgogne, a building with multi-award-winning architecture, made from bio-sourced materials including hemp concrete and local geosourced materials such as Comblanchien and Corton stone. You’re keen to find out more about Burgundy wines. You’ve booked a tasting workshop, then on the 4th floor at theBar les Accords, you choose your wine and your board.

Don’t forget to take advantage of the 3 panoramic terraces overlooking 10 hectares of landscaped parkland with a view of the Côte de Beaune vineyards. A quiet lane takes you to the town centre, and if your feet get tired, an electric shuttle bus will take you there.

You can take a sweet or savoury break here.

Day 2 - Saturday: Everything you need to know about the Climats de Bourgogne

Join us at 9am at the Beaune market to browse the stalls of local producers. The short circuit is the order of the day at this splendid local market. Cheeses, charcuterie, vegetables, fruit and gourmet products from local artisans await your shopping basket.

At 11.00am, it’s time for a coffee break on the terrace. What a pleasure it is to chill out without counting the hours. By 1pm. The hawkers are repackaging their wares. Baguette, sausage, marbled ham and a few local apples, some Reinettes from Montbard or Cuzy in your shopping bag, head for the Parc de la Bouzaize, a lovely green setting right in the middle of town. You can take a seat on a bench or on the lawns for a bite to eat. You can even take a siesta under the park’s majestic trees.

For those who prefer a digestive stroll, route 12: “A travers quelques Premiers Crus de Beaune” (Through some of Beaune’s First Growths) is waiting for you at the entrance to the park. 2 hours of nature walks just a stone’s throw from Beaune town centre, a real treat!

If walking isn’t for you, don’t worry, there’s another eco-friendly means of transport waiting for you.

Taking time out for a stroll to the rhythm of the horses

At 2pm, Gilles will be waiting for you in front of the Parc with his horse-drawn carriage to take you to Pommard. It’s the perfect time to digest and let yourself be carried through the vineyards by the Comtois draught horses. And if you still haven’t got your fill of chocolate, ask Gilles to take you to Appellation Chocolat in the centre of Pommard , where you can sample the chocolates of Sébastien Hénon!

Back at 5pm, we’re thirsty and a break at the Bambou Cocktail Club is well deserved. This magical venue offers an unusual experience just 100 metres from the city centre.

No restaurant this evening, though, so we’ve decided to take in the sights! Before the sun goes down, we’re taking to the skies with France Montgolfière. Your bird’s dream comes true. The first thing that strikes you is the silence! Observe the Climats, the villages and admire this green ribbon of vines, a magical moment.

Day 3 - Sunday: Family day out in Burgundy

How about hiring bikes from Active Tour and taking the whole family on a day out to discover the Route des Grands Crus towards the Côte de Nuits? Go ahead! On the way, we’ll stop off in the village of Savigny-lès-Beaune for a tasty snack at La Vigneronne bakery. Before heading back along the Voie des Vignes, we’ll pay a visit to theChâteau de Savigny . Further on, we picnic at the Oratoire de Frétille, a viewpoint in Pernand-Vergelesses that offers a beautiful view over the vineyards. A few more pedal strokes around the Corton hill to feast your eyes before heading home.

On the Voie des Vignes by bike or from the air, the Côte de Beaune is as seductive as ever, as these 3 days in Burgundy will reveal.
